Tanning Essentials: Everything You Need for finding the Perfect Sun-Kissed Glow In-Between Classes

We all know that one of the best aspects of summer, and the surrounding months, is the warmth of the sun on your skin and the defined tan lines that poke out from beneath your top! But how do we find time for this as we get through midterms, studying, even work? I'm here to help!

1. Make tanning a part of your study routine!
What do I mean by this? Study as you tan! I do my best to make sure I bring the book I am required to read in a certain class, (write now it is currently Life of Black Hawk, an autobiography written by Black Hawk himself, for my history class), or I will bring my laptop to get some assignments completed! We all know tanning can sometimes get boring, so bringing schoolwork to not only get over with, but to keep you entertained, is extremely helpful!

2. SPF & Tanning Oil!
I cannot stress the importance of a good tanning base, for your physical health and for optimizing your tan. I personally LOVE the Hello Sunshine tanning oil for my body, as well as the Hero Face Sunscreen to protect my face from those harmful rays! As someone with sensitive skin and is prone to acne breakouts, protecting your skincare routine with SPF is essentialto ensure everything you use is reaching its maximum potential.

3. Other various essentials!
It is not just tanning lotion and SPF that you will need throughout your tanning session. It is important to ensure you have a towel and/or chair, some form of nutrition - as the sun can be extremely draining, water (preferably something that can retain a cold water temperature), a speaker, and sunglasses, (and anything else that works for you!). I cannot remember the amount of times I would go out to tan, even in my backyard, and I would feel faint after soaking in the sun because I did not get that nutrition and hydration I seriously needed.

My personal essentials are the following:

- Striped beach towels

- Tortoise shell sunglasses

- Stanley cup

- Waterproof speaker

4. The right bathing suit!
Tan lines are (in my opinion) some of the best parts of tanning. I love the look of the stripes on my skin after wearing a tube top, I think it is adorable. So, be sure that you come prepared with the bikini you like the look of best, because it will leave an imprint on your body. Some of my friends will wear strapless tops to avoid the tan lines, which may work for you instead!
I personally love a good triangle string bikini, because it is extremely moldable and you can wear it a multitude of ways!

Guess what? I am tanning as I am writing this blog post! Literal proof that tanning can be a multitask, and is a great excuse to get some work done.

5. Remember to prioritize things you love. Balance is key.
I know that is extremely corny and cliche, but it is beyond true. We so often get super focused on the nitty gritty of life, like bills and success - which is important don't get me wrong - but what is the point of working toward something if you aren't able to appreciate what you have now? As Billy Joel said, "Slow down, you're doing fine."

With Love, Alena
